asher is a genderfluid reform jew. they hold degrees in jewish and christian biblical and religious studies from seminaries of both faiths. their current scholarly interests span the jewish experience with emphasis on material culture and the history of jewish objects, particularly books.
other interests include queer jewish heritage, jewish liturgy, and magic traditions.
they have studied hebrew, greek, aramaic, arabic, spanish, german, korean and akkadian.
